Hexagram 40 · Jie · Deliverance
King Wen, Duke of Zhou, Confucius · Western Zhou (c.1000 BCE)
䷧
Deliverance: the southwest furthers. If there is no longer anywhere to go, return: good fortune. If there is still somewhere to go, hastening brings good fortune. 1. No blame. 2. Hunting — catching three foxes, obtaining yellow arrows. Perseverance: good fortune. 3. Carrying a burden and riding in a carriage — attracting robbers. Humiliation. 4. Deliver yourself from your big toe. Friends come — sincerity. 5. The superior man delivers. Good fortune. Sincerity with petty people. 6. The prince shoots a hawk on a high wall. He hits it. Everything furthers.
